News Around the Ozark Mountain Artists Area

Spring is nearing it's end, and local artists are hard at work preparing for the coming tourist season that began Memorial Day.

In June, the Newton County Chamber of Commerce puts on the annual Arkansas Elk Festival. Many of our tour participants exhibit at the Elk Festival. This year's exhibitors include:

Michael Dougherty, Compton   Michael Dougherty is a wildlife and nature photographer from the west side of the county. His work is particularly focused on wildlife, but he also does landscapes, waterfalls, and other local subjects. Although he is a relative newcomer to the area, his work, particularly his elk photography, has sold many framed prints to both local residents and tourists.
2009 Ozark Mountain Artists Tour Scheduled . . .

The Ozark Mountain Artists have designated the third weekend in September as the permanent date for all future tours. The 3rd weekend in September in 2009 is September 18-20, mark it down now.

Our tour continues to grow and we anticipate this to continue for some time. We have decided to promote our even year round and possibly complement it with a Spring event in the future. Nothing is decided for sure, but out newsletter will be the best way to keep track of  what is happening in the area, and the fall tour.

We encourage everyone to sign up for our quarterly Ozark Mountain Artists Newsletter. Email us to sign up. Your email address will remain confidential and only used to inform you of our tours, and send you the quarterly newsletter.
